My New and Latest Room

Somewhat over due (especially since the quality of the pictures were rather poor, I didn’t really take my time with the pictures) as I have moved in last week. But yeah, after a very long time of contemplating where to put stuff so things look good and my workspace remains a work space (and figures were in places so they could be seen, not just for the sake of being there).

On a side note, school is finally starting for me. I have five essay courses (I think four, if not all of them, are lab courses) and two math courses (one advanced). Things will slow down, and if it gets too rough I may have to step out of blogging for good (actually, next semester gets significantly easier, we’ll have to see).

It’s kind of like Christmas

Well, as noted by yesterday’s post, I was amidst in organizing my junk as I’ve just moved into a new place. Among the stuff include every single package (figures, the box of DVDs I opened a few weeks ago) that I ordered in the previous four months.

I originally imagined a happier moment when I’m doing this. Regardless, opening up a bunch of packages of figures did lighten my mood a bit.

What’s in the Bag?

Our club anniversary is drawing near and every year on the third Saturday of January, Western Anime Video Explosion hosts a 10 hour long show, sometimes there are games to be played and prizes to be won. This afternoon (WordPress runs on a different time, so this happened on the afternoon of the 20th), the current club president and I went to the only anime store in town to pick up prizes. It’s my second time going to the store, though I wasn’t very helpful at picking out prizes (I suggested getting a Miku plushie, but I’m probably the only few in the club that knows who she is).

It’s my second time visiting that store, during my first I found nothing of interest. This time they’ve got several figures, all for decent price due to the fact that I’m the only active figure collector in town. But no, I didn’t buy any (and no, there were no Saber figures), I did come back with something else though.

The Ultimate Saber Collection

As luck would have it I spotted the post the moment it came out. But yeah, we who call ourselves dedicated Saber fanboys (and girls) will now be put forever to shame thanks to this dude.

This guy has every single Saber PVC figure ever released (to my knowledge, that is every single one), along with duplicate of others which bear slightly different features depending on the accessory (the Solid Theater Saber Alter and Gift Saber).

Seeing as the game was released when I was 14, there was no way I could have collected to this guy’s number. With the dollfies now on the lines of several times my credit card limit, there’s no way I could afford them (and I wouldn’t do it for myself, if I had a girlfriend who’s close to me I might buy one for her to take care of). Plus, if I WERE able to actually have this collection, I’d be disowned instantly because my parents would reason that I’m well enough to live on my own (or at least pay my own tuition, housing and food…yeah, be on my own).

Looking at that guy’s collection, I counted 13 figures that are part of my collection. I could also name the makers of 80% of the figures (it’s the small ones that I can’t recognize). How many can you name?

The dude is also missing the 1:1 figure/doll by Papermoon.

Yours Truely on AnimeBlips

Just slightly over a week ago Robyn Lass of AnimeBlips shot me an email, telling me that he wants to interview me for the featured blog of the week on AnimeBlips. Now, between line integrals and SP3 carbons this certainly is a more interesting turn of event in my current life (and at the  moment I’m doing my best to not write amine or amide in place of anime).

Please do read up on my interview here. I had no idea of AnimeBlips’s existance until Mr.Optic had his success. I claimed my blog at that point, and, well, as with everything with negative Gibb’s free energy in the universe, things occured spontaneous and look what happened!

Move-In II

Due to some last minute packing, shopping and gathering in the previous few days (as well as lacking stuff to write about in general), I have been somewhat absent. Well, here’s the first bit of something interesting in the rather dry last week or so. Now, as most of you may know, summer is over and I am therefore back in London to continue my studies. I left Toronto at around 9 in the morning.

FanExpo 2009 Report: Day 2

Enclosed is the field report on the second day of FanExpo.

When lost going to a convention, just follow the crowd (unless if the leading guy is lost, then pin all the blame on him)

When lost going to a convention, just follow the crowd (unless if the leading guy is direction-challenged, then pin all the blame on him)

Also, even though FanExpo is a three day event, due to various elements, I did not attend the third and final day.

FanExpo 2009 Report: Day 1

For those who don’t know, FanExpo is actually more of a comic book and sci-fi convention than an anime convention. However, seeing as popularity of the east Asian pop-culture is spreading, anime now has a distinct place in this convention.

The convention spans over a period of three days, like the CNE it marks the end of summer. Enclosed is the report of the first day.

Also, I was using my old digital camera today. Some shots turned out pretty bad, so bear with me.

Otaku’s Journey to No-man’s Land

What I’m referring to here is the encounter of the female gender, seeing as most “otakus” are guys (not to be sexist here, but we’re the ones that seem to have the most problems). Also, I’m not saying that all otaku are single, since I know there’s quite a few out there who are married.

I wish...

The idea for the article came up when I decided to pick up Densha Otoko (a Japanese drama), there’s a little story behind that which I’ll address later. All in all, this post has elements drawn from random places, and I won’t deny it doesn’t have anything to do with what I did a few days back. This post is not planned, so let’s see where it goes.

Pandatr0nics Party

This has been in the talks for quite some time now (38 comments on the article on DannyChoo if I recall correctly), and it finally happened.

Pictures are randomly pulled from either mine, Robostrike‘s or Pandatr0nic‘s collection, because my digital camera feels like popping flashes all the time (should have brought my DLSR >.<)
