I have mixed feelings towards this episode. By no means is it bad, but it feels like a desperate move by the producers to stop/delay it’s decay. The events that occured are shocking in such a way that it was predictable. Some things happened too quickly that it was better to just not show them.
Well, enough of that, let’s see what happens.
Episode begins a flashback about the past with a conflict between UNION and HRL at the HRL orbital elevator. Hercules and Sergei were the commanding officers and Andrei’s mom is in the front line. Sergei issued a retreat as he was ordered to, and this his wife was KIA. That’s when Andrei turned to the dark side.
Meanwhile, everyone was going wtf when the second orbital laser was unveiled and was going to destroy the African pillar.
Kataron pulls out, and the guys on stand by, with nothing better to do apparently, starts shooting them. So they start fighting over nothing while millions of people are waiting for their animated doom.
Setsuna goes out with his physics defying machine to try to destroy the giant laser, and he pulls Saji with him.
Is interrupted by the new red head with the MA
Bye, guy who we just met a few episodes ago whose name I didn’t bother finding out for a good reason.
It’s an oversized beam saber that makes the METEOR units look like toddlers.
But it wasn’t enough as physics regains the upper hand.
The exterior wall of the orbital elevator autopurges when something like this happens. I’m assuming the purpose of this is so that the wall doesn’t just come crushing down and squishes everything along the path. Instead, its millions of pieces have a chance of not killing some people.
That and it increases the number of things to shoot.
Everyone joins in to shoot stuff, pretty predictable.
Didn’t work though, Setsuna charges in and kills it, and then time fastforwards.
Now, I could have cared less about all that crap about shooting debrees. In my opionion, the real moment in this episode is here.
