While browsing the SumiSora forums on my regular lurking expedition for more news on their Fate/Hollow patch progress. I’ve come across something very interesting.
Apparently, the second volume of Type-Moon Ace, planned for release this upcoming January, announced of the hit eroge Tsukihime’s sequal, Tsukihime 2.
Here’s where things get messed up. Shortly after the info is out, it was removed. It was reannounced that it might be a mistake with the info they recieved. To make matters even more messed up, Tsukihime might not be a sequal at all, it may be a complete remake of the series.
The Chinese folks over at SumiSora say it’s a complete mistake made by some idiot. However, not everyone is convinced of one or the other.
Whatever the case is, it’s a pretty dirty blow to fans like myself. Now all the die hard Type-Moon fanboys/girls are hyped over something that might not even be true (we have faith in Type-Moon and their work, if it’s real, it’d be great). If it’s indeed true, I’d have to force myself to play actually play Tsukihime, since I haven’t touched it since I checked to confirm that the game actually works (on my PC, I have no idea if it’d work on my laptop).

Type-Moon is working on a remake of Tsukihime, not a sequel. Which is perfectly fine by me.
I saw this on Sankaku, and while I have my doubts, my response is still pretty much the same: I just hope it’s true.

The remake has been long confirmed when Type-Moon announced the game adaptation of Mahotsukai no Yoru and new stuff Girls’ Work.
The ideas, bits and pieces for Tsukihime II has been around for very long while, but no plans have been announced to make it yet.
Best not get any hopes up on such small amount of text until we hear it from Type-Moon themselves.

@Link and Hayate: I’ve gotten into this kind of stuff quite recently so I’ve not heard of any of this. However, unless they’re changing the storyline right down to how Shiki and Arc meets and the stuff with Ciel and Roa, then it’s more of a sequal than an actual remake. It’s what I think, I don’t know.
@Rin and Q: Well, Kara no Kyokai is still going. I do hope they’ll be releasing more eroge though.

@optic: My laptop can’t run Tsukihime orz, from what our anime club’s president’s brother told me, the game has 5 routes and the total length is comparable to Heaven’s Feel (something like that, I’d have to ask again). As for the anime…Let’s just say that folks who are denying its existance are doing so with a very good reason (I’ve seen the whole thing, I know how you feel).
