Why am I joining in the episode summary bandwagon? Well, I’m not really joining it. It’s just that compared to the rest of the otaku community my anime knowledge is very weak, and for a very good reason. I have a sizable stash of series, but half of them I dropped midway because I simply don’t like it when a series is over. Quite ironic since normally, I can’t wait for the weekly episodes to come out. Now, we bid farewell to yet another series.
Initial Impression from ep 24:
For those who saw episode 24 last week, we saw that Alto’s Valkyrie was hit by Brera’s heavy particle cannon and exploded. Now, as expected from Sunrise, a character isn’t dead if you don’t see the corpse. Of course, there wouldn’t be an episode 25 if Alto was dead because Sheryl is only useful if her earing is amplifying her power, and Ranka still isn’t free.
Summary:
Macross Quarter warps in and fires just before the Vajra ship does. Luckily Brera’s slave system gets broken by the shockwave (which really doesn’t matter since I don’t like that guy).
Unsurprisingly, Alto survives and tells the fleet to shoot the giant bootlegged version of Ranka, and so they do. Which reveals Grace’s flagship – the Battle Galaxy.
Yea…as imagined, slimy politicians always get what they deserves. Meanwhile, Grace syncs with Battle Galaxy and sends off the entire cargo-hold of Ghost V-9s to shred the fodders.
Mean while, under heavy fire from every direction imaginable, Klan, now in Michael’s VF-25G, along with Luca and Ozma towed Alto’s VF-25 into the battlefield so Alto cound continue to fight.
As Alto does an extremely long and dramtic boarding of his Variable figher while Sheryl starts to sing Northern Cross.

"Odd teams left, Evens right. That's 1, 3, 5 and 7 left, 2, 4, 6, 8 right. 7 and 8 are whelp groups."
The next bit includes several minutes of Macross style fighting action with Northern Cross as the background music. Just a question though, what’s the deal with Luka and his AWAC installment anyway? It doesn’t seem like his drones will be particularly useful unless if he does some intense micro (of course this is proven wrong because auto-pilot programs appear to be extremely imbalanced in the future).
Sheryl’s song, carried by Alto, breaks Brera’s harmonica and the spell on Ranka.
Grace syncs with the Vajra queen and unleashes some kind of fold thing thing and a large bunch of Vajra attacks. But Ranka starts to sing and the Vajra turns on her.
Amist the fighting and exchange of live ammunition, Sheryl is dying from her disease…
Ranka and Alto does some stuff that defies the principles of space and time, give a motivational speech, and Ranka transfers her anti-bodies to Sheryl, thus making her immune to the bad effects of the Vajra virus.
Sheryl and Ranka starts to sing Lion, which somehow shifts to Infinity after a minute or so. Macross Quarter cuts a hole on Battle Galaxy so Alto could rescue Ranka.
Grace launches a massive attack. It’s a direct hit on island 1, but the Vajra blocked the attack.
Brera becomes Alto’s wingman as they charge towards Grace. After using up their seemingly unlimited ammo, Alto snipes Grace using Michael’s rifle that Klan gave to him before he made the charge.
There’s enough stuff about the Sheryl x Ranka bit so I won’t say much more.
My Opinion:
This episode is quite well done, albeit it does give the impression that they pushed a bit too much stuff together, especially with the shuffling of every single song performed by Megumi Nakajima and May’n and repeats of scenes shown in the opening credits. I thought the overall series was all right, although too many episodes are devoted to character developments and such, it doesn’t have enough of either action or romance. But the last episode makes up for it. Alto’s indeciciveness was annoying for the most part but they pulled it off nicely at the end. Triangular at the end performed by Megumi Nakajima and May’n was a very good choice by the director (who’s name I’ve forgotten).
Great job on the part of debut seiyu Megumi Nakajima. Although her character was annoying at times, she did great as a seiyu as well as a singer. I expect great things for her in the future.
On a side note, the Macross Frontier movie should be worth watching.

Whoa! So much stuff! Very interesting! Is the writing very time consuming? I remember you mentioned that you have difficulty to remember date and sleeping. Bussing with this kind of time consuming stuff may be one of the reasons. Apologize to say this. I just wonder how you manage your university time.
Kimi wa dero mo kissu wo suru….
So suitable for Alto’s state.. XD
I jealous of him!! XD
Differ with CG, MF has a happy ending.. :3
But this episode has many nudity..DAmn XD
@Candy: Writing can be time consuming but it doesn’t have to be done all at once. This was written over a period of two days, and it also depends on how inspired you are at the time. My memory problem is more with the fear of forgetting.
I don’t actually look at my hand after I wrote stuff on it. As for my sleeping problems, I’m born with insomnia and I don’t drink coffee very often. It has nothing to do with anything else, all the time I spend studying is by my choice, so it’s not stressful. In terms of time management, truth be told I don’t. What I mean is, after all my classes I would do everything I have to do (ie. readings, reviews), and any left over time I do other stuff, which usually isn’t a lot.
a question for you: are you posting from work? I recognize your IP
@Sandy: This episode is definitely something, which is why this post is quite long. This is definitely one of the better endings I’ve seen, as I’ve pretty much cried my eyes out with the previous stuff. In terms of nudity, I streamed it, since my school’s internet sucks. So I didn’t see any, but I honestly don’t think eyes were showing though XD
I LOVE THE SONGS THAT THE DUO SANG!!!
Well, the battle scenes was great and basically ended how I expected it to end…
I never thought there would be a movie follow up…
macross frontier isn’t a sunrise production bro. ^^;
fixed ^^;
